LLAA congratulates all who helped fill backpacks for the HEARTH Students. (Homeless Education Advocates Restoring The Hope!) Project is dedicated to assisting homeless and in-transition families and children.

LLAA delivered 260 backpacks filled with school supplies to the HEARTH Program. Half were filled with elementary school supplies and half were for secondary students. Included in 75 of the backpacks were gallon size bags of hygiene supplies including toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap, deodorant, shampoo, combs and wash cloths.

LLAA started this outreach project last year and delivered 32 backpacks. This year they added a friendly competition among the 31 leadership classes. Congratulations to Class 30, who donated enough supplies and money for 40 backpacks. Any alumnus was invited to donate $20 or school supplies. In just 4 weeks, the Alumni Association was able to fill 260 backpacks for HEARTH. HEARTH will see that these backpacks are given to students throughout Polk County.
